I have used the Crystal Coat since October 2007. It is a Great final finish and also as an Only finish. I sometimes use the Triple E after final sanding and let it cure and then use the Crystal Coat that really brings out the shine. I do recommend this for the beginner and veteran pen-turners.

If you have been looking for a reliable click mechanism in a pen, look no further! This has got to be, by far, the best click pen on the market! With it's single tube design, it makes for an easy assembly, and will be an instant success with customers!! Men and women alike love the design and feel and the simplicity of a click pen.

I use fountain pens almost exclusively. Have for many, many years. There is something very elegant about writing with a fine fountain pen. Unfortunately, the nib and ink flow can make all the difference between a wonderful writing experience and total frustration. What's worse is that there is often no rhyme or reason as to what makes a great fountain pen. I have one thousand dollar pen that writes like you would expect such an expensive pen to, and another in the same price range that skips and feels "scratchy" when writing. I've all but given up on "kit pens" - they too often have problems. Which brings me to this nib. I had purchased a kit pen that didn't write well. I tried everything; taking the nib assembly out, cleaning the tines, looking for microscopic dirt, even carefully sanding the nib. Still problems. So I decided to try another nib and I bought this one. Eureka! I cannot say enough good things about this nib. It is one of, if not THE, best writing nibs I have in ANY fountain pen regardless of price. And speaking of price; good luck finding any other nib on the Internet this inexpensive. I nearly bought a similar nib from a respected on-line dealer for $100! I'm so glad I found Berea Hardwoods and this nib. I'm buying more just to have them on hand!

This is a top quality pen kit. I have been buying lots of kits trying to find one that is any good. You will not be displeased with this one.

Great finish and durability. Best fit/finish of any kit like it!

This pen easily outsells the more elaborate designs consistently. It's simple elegance, enhanced only by the small decorative band, is universally appealing.Especially when equipped with upgrade Nibs and/or Refills. The only thing I would change on these pens would be a wider choice of available platings.I have made over 30 of these pens in both versions and cannot keep them in stock.!

Just finished assembling my first one!! It is so comfortable and looks so sleek. The only trouble I had was the first step of the assembly process: The only way I could press the "Finial Transmission Adaptor" into the Finial was to press it backwards from the diagram shown (longer, smaller diameter into the finial). Minor setback, still an absolutely amazing product!

Always new and innovative Berea Hardwoods traditionally leads with new designs. The Virage is an exciting new continuation of this excellent tradition. Easy one-tube turning. Simple assembly. Instructions had errors. Picture showed transmission adapter backwards, and instructions stated putting wrong end into the finial. Step 2 should have mentioned the clip and not the finial assembly. These were minor oversights, which have been corrected. Despite these minor issues there was no problem determining the proper methodology for assembly.response from clients was all highly positive. They like the look of the pen, and the feel in the hand is solid without being heavy, comfortable and smooth writing. A top tier addition.

I'd been looking at these pens for a while then finally decided to order some. I turned matching fountain and rollerball pens in Rhinoplastic. These are probably the prettiest pens I've ever turned. They fell good in my hands and are the best writing pens I've used in a long time. I'm about to order some more of these. They are going to be popular when people see mine.

The Ultra is a classy upgrade to the standard Cigar pen. Completed pen is medium sized with excellent solid, though not heavy feel in the hand.Straight forward turning and assembly. Only caution is watch the orientation of the two small bushings. If not cautious you could easily reverse them. No preference between Gold and Chrome, both look outstanding.Double twist mechanism is smooth, and positive.

The Sierra pen is one of the sturdiest pens I've worked with, yet has a delicate feel that fits in your hand that others lack. The tapered barrel provides heft, while the large inside bore minimizes bulky weight. It's become mine, as well as my customer's favorite. I got to preview these before they were officially released years back, and haven't stopped making them since. It's quick, easy to assemble, sell and use.

This pen is very pretty. It has a nice weight and is not too large for women or too small for men. It is balanced nicely.

These are very classy pens -- looking like a higher end pen at a great price. I can't wait to make one of the two-tone pens. Very easy to assemble & great finish!

This is truly a regal pen. Detail is phenomenal and the quality outstanding. It's an instant hit with everyone that sees it and the first one people reach for.Matched with Amboyna Burl, it's a work of art.

I was a little hesitant when buying this pen. I am glad I did buy it. Chrome with black acrylic looks amazing. A few friends at work saw it and said "wow that's a weird pen. " when the wrote with it they were amazed at its comfort, as was I. 2 easy sales at work. I highly recommend trying this pen, especially if you are a little hesitant, like I was. Very easy to turn. Pay very close attention to the instructions. 2 of the tubes have a narrower end than the other, which I found out after assembly. :). The instructions are very clear, yet I pressed one on the pen wrong during assembly.

I've had a good deal of compliments on this pen. Mostly from other turners. Gives the cigar pen a classier look. Very impressive pen.
David K Giuliano (Princeville, HI) | July 9th, 2012
The end result of this kit is a beautiful pen with a nice weight. But there are a few precautions that need to be considered. 1) Make sure the brass tube(shorter of the two) that contains the transmission is clean of any glue. If not the pen will stick when twisting it open and it may not work at all. One way of cleaning any dried glue is using a wood rasp that is slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the brass tube.2) Apply a small dab of CA to all parts that are to be pressed into the lower body of the pen.3) Apply a small dab of CA to the top of the threaded end of clip because when the pen is completed and no glue is applied, the clip can slip and scratch the finish on the upper body of the pen

First time customer of this supplier. This particular style pen became an immediate gift after it was made. I have since ordered more.
Ross Greenfield (South Easton, MA) | September 12th, 2012
First time turning a pen light.I chose it to make great gifts for the holidays. It was a good choice because as with the pen kits, this is also a quality kit that you will enjoy turning and assembling.
Tim (Broadview Heights, OH) | April 27th, 2013
I love these. Girls absolutely love this pen more than any other kit that I've made. Great for gifts or to sell.
